Copy and Paste Insurance?

Copy and paste is beautiful thing that we all have come to love and appreciate. But in the insurance world, there are too many agents giving you a "copy and paste" policy when you decide it's time to shop around. This is NOT serving the client well.

Yes, when you come to me to shop your insurance I will ask to see your current declaration pages - most agents make this simple request. But unlike most agents, I'm not requesting this information to give you a copy and paste quote.

First of all, handing over your declarations pages makes the process a little easier on you. Instead of being on the phone for a lengthy amount of time giving VIN's like:

Client: "G as in grand.'"

HIG Agent: "B as in brand?"

Client: "No, G as in grand"

HIG Agent: "I'm sorry. Can you pick a different word, I'm hearing B as in boy."

Client: "G as in groovy."

HIG: "Okay, got it. Please continue."

It's a painful process with some hilarious phonetics at times. But like I've said in past blogs - we value your time and that's one simple reason why we request your declaration pages.

The most important reason we request your declaration pages is to see what type of coverage you currently have. In our agency, we do not just give you a copy and paste quote of your current coverage. We look at the liability limits to evaluate if those limits make sense with your current life circumstances.

I'm a talker.

It's true, there is a conversation about each client's deductibles, coverage limits and liability. Your comfort level may not be the same as the next client's comfort level. We don't do cookie cutter policies. We do tailored policies to each clients needs, wants and comfort level.

But of course, for the sake of comparing prices, every quote comes with an "apples to apples" comparison (side note: tune in next week for a blog about what "apples to apples" REALLY means). But in addition to that, you will see some cost savings options and coverage options that apply to your situation - options that won't overwhelm you, but will help you understand exactly what to anticipate at the time of a claim.

So, to boil this down - if your agent has discussed options with you, just ask...

Ask about your coverage.

Ask how to save some money.

Ask for choices.

Just ask.
