Apples to Apples - Real Talk

This is a term that gets thrown around in the insurance world on a regular basis. The reality is - there is no true "apples to apples" comparative quotes. Yep, that's right. It's nearly impossible to give clients an "apples to apples" quote. Why? Well, the answer is pretty simple:

Each company has different policy language, which will result in different coverage through each insurance company.

For instance, one company I represent has unlimited gun coverage up to your personal property limit (Personal Property limits are usually in the hundred thousands) - while others have a limit ranging from $1,000 to $2,500. (We will talk about gun coverage another day!) Another excellent example is one company I represent offers watercraft liability automatically for certain types of boats (usually pontoon and small fishing boats) - while other companies ask you to add that coverage on as an endorsement.

For the sake of keeping it simple, we won't go into the details on the above examples. But, you can let that serve as an idea of how coverage varies from company to company. The thing is, there are SO MANY MORE examples we could discuss with you today, but I don't want to bore you with all of this insurance lingo. Just know, when you're shopping your insurance, ask about any gaps in coverage from one policy to the next policy. Ask an agent you trust, which company is the best fit for you.

The responsibility of getting each client properly covered is something we take very seriously at The Hudson Insurance Group. We love your questions, that's what helps the conversation flow so we can better understand what you need coverage for. So, next time you get an "apples to apples" quote, ask a few questions. At the time of a loss, you're going to appreciate that you know what to expect.
